Massage on Table Your massage table or chair is one of the most important items you own as a massage therapist.  Not only does your massage table need to be right for you to work with (the table needs to be the right height, width, etc to suit your body shape) it needs to feel comfortable for your patient or client.  If you can afford an electric massage table then buy one, if not buy the best you can afford.

Massage Table with Carry Bag Massage Table with Carry Bag   (From $149.00)
Thick cushioning and re-enforced corners ensure a comfortable massage experience while packing it up is as easy as folding the table away --there's even a carry bag, so transporting the table from place to place is a breeze!

Other than yourself, your massage table is probably your most important asset in daily practice.  You need a table that can accommodate many different body sizes and heights as well as being suited to your body shape and therapeutic techniques.  There are many manufacturers on the market and even more suppliers offering every type of massage table including portable and electric.

The things you should consider when purchasing a table include:

Warranty - how long is the warranty, what does it cover and where do I have to return it to for repairs? You may want to know how much transport is if you have to pay.  If it is an electric table on-site warranty would be a must.

Portable tables - the lighter the better, wider tables tend to be better for patients and more stable but increase weight.  Height adjustment is important but once again will increase weight.  Thickness of foam and vinyl, and protection on corners from bumps.  A cover for the table when transporting is important too.

Massage table assessories - if you want a face cradle, arm support or leg extension, can they be added later or do I need to purchase a special table.

How safe is purchasing a massage table over the internet?  It can have it's ups and downs. I purchased an electric massage table around three years ago over the internet from a well known brand.  There was a saving of around $200 by purchasing this way and it would be delivered for free interstate.  The company gave me a gaurenteed deliver date (delivered into the room) and took the money of my credit card.  I arrived back to my practice to find the table sitting in the driveway exposed to the elements.  It had been there for 3 days, no phone call to let me know - nothing.  I let the company know of my disappointment with their courier, unpacked the table and arranged to move it inside. It was different to the picture on the website and looked like the budget model rather than the standard electric table I had purchased.  The company assured me it was not the budget.  After several calls the company admited it was the budget.  It seemed like a good massage table so I offered to keep it if they refunded the difference.  If I kept the budget table I would have to pay for delivery - an extra $50.  There was no logic and it was like dealing with a company with no brains.  I finally faxed them with calculations on replacing the table (which they were happy to do) at $650 against giving me a $200 refund.  Somehow their intellect kicked in and I got my refund.  The table has worked great and all parties appear happy.
